What is a Barometric Damper?

A Barometric Damper is a draft regulator that fits in the tee section on the connector. They operate automatically and limit the draft that pulls air into the heating appliance.

By using a draft guage or meter, these regulators can be adjusted according to the manufacturers specific instructions.

When the draft reaches a pre determined level, a pivoted counter balanced flap is pulled open. This permits air to enter the chimney and prevents the increase of draft in the appliance.

Some manufacturers may require this to be used when installing their heating appliances. Should a chimney fire occur, a flap on the device will automatically be pulled open. As this happens, large quantities of air will enter the system and sustain the chimney fire.Purchase a damper
